Thanks for that update. I once lived at Wilcox and Fountain, early 80's, I ate at a lot of local places then. My fave was Johnny's on Hollywood Blvd. Kinda coffee shop and part restaurant. Good place for a quick lunch and then a movie matinee. It's gone now.
Hey Mike, if you read this, there's a reasonable/cheap place to eat recently opened just east of Vine on the North side of Sunset called Waffle. Or The Waffle. Right across the street from Fabiolus cafe. I don't remember Johnny's -I was still in my hometown (London) in the 1980s then in 1988 met my future husband who is from Hawaii. Moved there in '88, then Los Angeles in 1995. I read your profile and see you are a 23-year-strong couple ... congrats. My hubby and I are 22 years next month. Do you have a facebook page? Would enjoy talking w/ you sometime. Or if you don't want to leave a f/book name, I can provide an email. Only if you feel like it. Only interested in desultory chat; I'm always delighted to find anyone who lists Chinatown and Auntie Mame as fave movies. In fact we're off to see the new Polanski at the arclight later today.
Do you remember when there was a Roscoe's in Hollywood, I think it was either on Cahuenga, or Gower, near Sunset. I ate there often. I love your blog.
ReplyDeleteRoscoe's is still there, it's on Gower just before Sunset on the East side of the street. I live one block North!
